Hi all! Welcome to 2021! Here’s to hoping that 2021 is much better than 2020, and that we can go back to normal life fairly soon. In the meantime, while I’m still social distancing away from the world, I’m planning on rereading some of my old favorites this year. This is partially because I’m feeling very nostalgic these days, and partially because I want to recommend some books to friends, but I have to make sure that they’ve aged well and are still up to my standards. There’s something very cozy and nice about rereading old favorites, so I’m very excited to crack these books open again!
1. A Court of Thorns and Roses Series – Sarah J. Maas
I’m planning on revisiting the entire series before A Court of Silver Flames comes out in February. I just got a box set for Christmas, so I’ll finally be able to binge through the physical copies without waiting for the books to be available from the library.
2. Give the Dark my Love and Bid – Beth Revis
This duology is one of my favorites, and it never ceases to dazzle me. I’m planning on recommending this one to a friend soon, so I’ll read it first so that I freshly remember all of the plot points for our discussion.
3. A Curse So Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer
I got ACSDAL two years ago and started it but never finished it! It wasn’t even a DNF; I literally just got too busy with school to finish it last time, so I’m hoping to revisit the book (and the entire series.) It really seems to be right up my alley, as I love retellings.
4. Wicked Lovely series – Melissa Marr
This was the series that got me into loving fantasy and faerie stories! I recently finally found a copy of the last book to complete my set, and considering that it was been maybe 8 years since I read the books, I’m excited to revisit them. I barely remember what they were about, and I think I was too young to read them the first time.
5. Bone Crier’s Moon – Kathryn Purdie
I read the first book last March at the start of quarantine, and the sequel comes out next month. Since most of 2020 has been a time-warp that’s gone both incredibly quickly and slowly, I need a refresher before I read Bone Crier’s Dawn.
That’s it for my list! I’m trying to keep it fairly short since I still have a million books on my TBR list that I want to get to in 2021, so I’m going to mainly focus on those!
Are you planning on revisiting any old favorites in 2021? Let me know in the comments! I’m curious to know 🙂
