Hello Starlight Readers! My first ever book subscription box arrived today, and it’s absolutely lovely! I thought I’d share my thoughts about it and the items while doing a full unboxing! Don’t read this if you don’t want spoilers! (Though I’m pretty sure most people have their box now! I grabbed mine in the last few days possible)
Immediately upon opening the box is the spoiler card. It tells you about the items (mainly what fandom its from, and where the item came from!
First up is a genuine agate gemstone ring from GeoCentral! I think that everyone ended up getting a different color stone. Mine is pink, but from what I’ve seen, some people got blue, black, or brown as well. They’re all beautiful though! I typically don’t wear rings, and this one is quite large, so I don’t see myself wearing it often, but it’s definitely cool!
Next is a pocket mirror inspired by The Belles fandom and designed by Catarina Book Designs. It comes in a cute OwlCrate pouch, and says “May you always find beauty.” I think that’s a great quote for a mirror. I’ll definitely keep this in my purse.
I’m so happy with this next item! They’re magnetic bookmarks made by Craftedvan with Maleficent, the Queen of Hearts, and the queen from Snow White. On the back there are alternative forms of these characters. I’m definitely adding these to my collection of magnetic bookmarks!
This next item is absolutely gorgeous! The lovely tin designed by Stella Bookish Art and inspired by Holly Black’s The Cruel Prince! It’s a beautiful tin, but I actually realized that my tin arrived slightly defective! It has the same quote on both sides, which is disappointing. since the quote that’s supposed to be on the front was so inspiring to me as a writer. I reached out to OwlCrate earlier, so we’ll see how that goes. I’ll probably keep my bookish buttons or my magnetic bookmarks in it!
Next is a tea towel inspired by Throne of Glass, designed by Little Inklings Design! I don’t plan on using it as a tea towel (I don’t even have a kitchen!) but as a beautiful mini tapestry for my dorm room! I’ll definitely share pictures of my bookish dorm when I move in next week. It’ll look lovely next to my other OwlCrate tapestry.
Next is a print with a quote from Before She Ignites. I’ll probably stick this to my wall near my posters.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! August’s book is Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart. OwlCrate provided an exclusive cover of the book, which I honestly like more than the original. The book is signed and comes with a bookmark and letter from the author! I can’t wait to start reading this.
That’s basically it! After the book there’s a little booklet with an author interview, information about the cover, an interview with Craftedvan and info about the photo challenge. There’s also a card announcing the September theme – Masters of Disguise and one of the vendors for it! At the very bottom of the box was a little button with the same art from the spoiler card, but I didn’t get a picture of it.
Aside from my issue with the tin, which hopefully will be resolved, I really like the contents of my first ever book box! Everything is so pretty and I have a use for almost everything! While I can’t splurge on them too often, I’ll try to revisit OwlCrate someday in the coming months!
Thanks for reading!
